Millport is hosting its very first Pride festival on Saturday, September twelfth — a landmark celebration of diversity, inclusion, and community spirit inspired by successful events on nearby islands. Organizers are planning a seafront parade, youth-focused activities, and community stalls, all aimed at boosting visibility for the LGBTQ+ community and fostering unity. Sparked by local teacher Pam Currie’s experience at Arran Pride, this inaugural event brings together about twenty volunteers and local businesses, with plans to grow into a regular, economically vibrant tradition. The next planning meeting is July fifteenth — everyone’s invited to join this historic, joyful day on the Isle of Cumbrae.
